"The Great Grasshopper Race" is the 1st part of episode 19.
Plot[]
Hal's grasshopper friend Dustin Hopman is competing in the Great Grasshopper Race. But before the race starts, Dustin suddenly hops off into the woods. Nature Cat and his friends try to look for him before that race starts.

- Demonstrate an understanding of basic grasshopper facts
- Grasshoppers have an amazing ability to identify their mates. Each species has its individual song, produced by rubbing or flicking the lower back legs on the forewings to create either a chirping or a clicking sound (this is known as stridulation).
- Species that make no sound like grasshoppers rely on sight and scent to find a mate.

- There is a reference to the episode "Nature Cat and Mr. Hide" in one scene whereafter Nature Cat said, āItās camouflage, Halā, he said āThatās what helped me win hide and seekā.
- The grasshopper's name, Dustin Hopman, references to the famous Hollywood actor Dustin Hoffman of 1988 Best Picture Oscar film Rain Man.
- In subsequent airings, this episode is followed by the Dog Gone music video āStreamsā. In other airings, it is replaced by āFlowers, Fruits, and Vegetablesā.
- Hal wears a referee costume at the beginning and end of the episode.
